Welcome to 3rd. Grade

June 26, 2025

Dear Families,

Welcome to third grade! We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this year. This year will be an exciting year for everyone, and we will work together to make third grade the best year yet! To facilitate this, each student is asked to bring in supplies listed on the attached supply list. The due dates for supplies are listed.

This year, we will work hard on fostering independence in reading, writing, and math, and expressing our individuality and culture. Students will be participating in deepening their discussions rooted in personal experience and textual evidence. Students will write narrative, opinion, and informational pieces. They will strengthen their addition and subtraction skills. Students will learn multiplication and division. Social studies units will consist of learning about communities around the world. In science, students will explore balanced forces, environments/survival and weather/climate.

Communication is the key to a successful classroom. In the beginning of September, information on how to join the “Remind” messaging app will be shared. This is a great way to communicate with your child’s teacher(s). Ms. Hogan and Mrs. Magenta, the parent coordinator, are also connected via the “Remind” messaging app. Important information such as school events, meetings, assemblies, etc. will be made available to you. Another way of contacting your child’s teacher or speaking with a school official is by calling the main office at 718-232-3873. If your child is absent, please notify the teacher and/or school. School officials call daily if there is an absence. Please send in a doctor’s note and/or a note from home when your child returns to school.

To ensure a smooth transition, please be sure to arrive on time for arrival and dismissal.

We are confident that this will be a rewarding and successful school year.

In collaboration,

3rd Grade Teachers
